Along the way, you’ll taste festive treats like Czech Christmas cookies, sip hot drinks that keep the cold at bay, and uncover Czech Christmas traditions that locals cherish year after year. This is the real magic of Prague at Christmas, shared with you.
Did you know that the Prague Christmas markets are regularly ranked among the most beautiful in Europe? On this Prague Christmas market tour, you’ll step into a winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights, wooden stalls, and festive cheer. Don’t just admire it from photos, come and experience Christmas in Prague with your own eyes, ears, and taste buds!
This intimate Prague Christmas tour takes you through the cobbled lanes of the Old Town, where every corner glows with festive charm. With your local guide leading the way, you’ll soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the most beloved Christmas markets in Prague. If you’re lucky enough to be here during the season, there’s no better way to discover the warmth of Czech Christmas traditions.
Our holiday journey begins at Franz Kafka Square, a charming plaza near the Old Town Square. Here you’ll meet your guide, a Prague local and holiday enthusiast, before setting off with a small group of fellow travelers. From the very first market, you’ll be immersed in the scents of mulled wine, roasted nuts, and sweet Czech Christmas cookies.
At each stop, you’ll sample festive treats and enjoy a surprise tasting chosen by your guide: something seasonal, authentic, and perfectly suited to your palate. Think of it as joining a Christmas party with friends, where every flavor tells a story.
As you wander between stalls and squares, your guide will share fascinating tales about how Christmas in the Czech Republic has evolved, from the unique customs before Communism, through the decades when traditions were subdued, to the joyful celebrations we cherish today. Expect plenty of fun facts, quirky details, and insights into rituals that might feel wonderfully different from your own holiday traditions.
By the end of this festive walk, you’ll not only have tasted the very best of Prague Christmas market food but also gained a heartfelt connection to the spirit of Czech Christmas.

Yes, the markets are open daily, and we visit a mix of iconic and local spots to give you the full festive experience. One of the highlights is the Old Town Square Christmas Market, the city’s most famous and photogenic market. But we don’t stop there. We’ll also explore neighborhood markets (open until December 24), as well as other spots that reveal how locals in Prague truly celebrate the season. After the 24th, we adjust the route to visit equally charming markets within the city center. The tour runs daily through December 31, and every version includes plenty of holiday magic.
Brace yourself, because there’s a lot of food! We’ll stop at multiple locations with plenty of tastings at each one. By the end of the tour, you’ll be more than full and ready for bed.
Definitely, that’s one of the highlights! You’ll find everything from handmade ornaments and wooden toys to traditional Czech crafts, scented candles, and festive treats to take home. Our guide is happy to point you toward the best stalls (and steer you away from the mass-produced stuff). The markets we visit are especially good for finding authentic, locally made holiday gifts you won’t see in regular tourist shops.
Comfort is key on our tours, so we recommend wearing shoes that can handle Prague’s famous cobblestones and dressing for the weather. And don’t forget to bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated!

You’ll taste your way through Prague’s festive season! Expect seasonal Czech holiday treats like gingerbread, roasted ham, mulled wine (svařák), mead, and other local specialties that vary slightly depending on the day and market. This isn’t a full lunch, but it’s definitely more than just a snack — enough to get you into the holiday spirit and keep you cozy as we stroll.
This tour includes sweet treats and hot drinks, so if you have diabetes, don’t consume alcohol, or follow a gluten-free diet, please let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We can’t host vegan guests on this tour, as traditional Czech holiday food relies heavily on meat and dairy, and suitable alternatives are very limited. If you have multiple allergies or complex dietary needs, we recommend booking our private Christmas markets tour so we can better tailor the experience to you.
Don’t worry, we won’t let a little rain dampen our spirits! Just make sure to check the weather forecast and come prepared with an umbrella.
Absolutely! Our small-group tour is family-friendly, and the festive markets are a magical experience for kids. The pace is gentle and there’s plenty to see, taste, and explore. If you’re traveling with younger children or need more flexibility, we recommend booking the private version of this tour so we can adapt the route and food stops to your family’s needs.

How taking this tour will benefit the local community: All the stands we visit are 100% owned and run by local Czechs. As we’re in a small group of no more than 10, we don’t disrupt local life. By taking our guests to off-the-beaten-path locations, we help businesses that would usually not be visited by travelers.
We’ll end the tour at the last Christmas market. Each tour guide has a different route, and the ending point might vary, but we’ll help you navigate back to your accommodation.
