Taste the Flavors of Czech Christmas on a Festive Tour

Our holiday journey begins at Franz Kafka Square, a charming plaza near the Old Town Square. Here you’ll meet your guide, a Prague local and holiday enthusiast, before setting off with a small group of fellow travelers. From the very first market, you’ll be immersed in the scents of mulled wine, roasted nuts, and sweet Czech Christmas cookies.

At each stop, you’ll sample festive treats and enjoy a surprise tasting chosen by your guide: something seasonal, authentic, and perfectly suited to your palate. Think of it as joining a Christmas party with friends, where every flavor tells a story.

Learn the Stories Behind Czech Christmas Traditions

As you wander between stalls and squares, your guide will share fascinating tales about how Christmas in the Czech Republic has evolved, from the unique customs before Communism, through the decades when traditions were subdued, to the joyful celebrations we cherish today. Expect plenty of fun facts, quirky details, and insights into rituals that might feel wonderfully different from your own holiday traditions.

By the end of this festive walk, you’ll not only have tasted the very best of Prague Christmas market food but also gained a heartfelt connection to the spirit of Czech Christmas.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Prague Christmas Tour

If you love festive food, local traditions, and exploring holiday magic with like-minded travelers, this Prague Christmas markets tour is for you!

Yes, the markets are open daily, and we visit a mix of iconic and local spots to give you the full festive experience. One of the highlights is the Old Town Square Christmas Market, the city’s most famous and photogenic market. But we don’t stop there. We’ll also explore neighborhood markets (open until December 24), as well as other spots that reveal how locals in Prague truly celebrate the season. After the 24th, we adjust the route to visit equally charming markets within the city center. The tour runs daily through December 31, and every version includes plenty of holiday magic.

Definitely, that’s one of the highlights! You’ll find everything from handmade ornaments and wooden toys to traditional Czech crafts, scented candles, and festive treats to take home. Our guide is happy to point you toward the best stalls (and steer you away from the mass-produced stuff). The markets we visit are especially good for finding authentic, locally made holiday gifts you won’t see in regular tourist shops.

You’ll taste your way through Prague’s festive season! Expect seasonal Czech holiday treats like gingerbread, roasted ham, mulled wine (svařák), mead, and other local specialties that vary slightly depending on the day and market. This isn’t a full lunch, but it’s definitely more than just a snack — enough to get you into the holiday spirit and keep you cozy as we stroll.

This tour includes sweet treats and hot drinks, so if you have diabetes, don’t consume alcohol, or follow a gluten-free diet, please let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We can’t host vegan guests on this tour, as traditional Czech holiday food relies heavily on meat and dairy, and suitable alternatives are very limited. If you have multiple allergies or complex dietary needs, we recommend booking our private Christmas markets tour so we can better tailor the experience to you.

Absolutely! Our small-group tour is family-friendly, and the festive markets are a magical experience for kids. The pace is gentle and there’s plenty to see, taste, and explore. If you’re traveling with younger children or need more flexibility, we recommend booking the private version of this tour so we can adapt the route and food stops to your family’s needs.
