Walk through three Prague Easter markets with a local who can tell you what the eggs, bread and willow whips actually mean.Prague’s Easter markets are full of things that catch the eye: hand-painted eggs, bright ribbons, braided willow branches and tables of spring pastries. You can walk through the stalls on your own, but many of the symbols make little sense without the stories behind them.
This private tour visits three Easter markets with a Prague guide who grew up around these customs. As you move from the famous Old Town Square market to other seasonal markets around the city, you’ll try Czech Easter treats, have a traditional spring drink and learn how family rituals, old pagan ideas and Christian traditions became part of the same holiday.
Because the tour is private, the pace can follow your group. Spend longer looking for locally made gifts, pause for photographs, add a break for children or slower walkers, and ask all the questions that the painted eggs and willow whips are going to raise. The Prague Easter markets open in early March and run through Easter Monday on March 29. Our tours run for the whole season, so that you can get the most out of this colorful time of the year in Prague.
We’ll treat you to spring-time Czech specialties like mazanec (a sweet, fluffy Easter bread), smoked meats, and a glass of green beer if you’re up for it. Since this is a private tour, we can tailor the food stops to your tastes and dietary needs — and add more of what you love along the way. It’s not a full lunch, but you’ll enjoy plenty of festive flavors to keep you cozy and satisfied throughout the walk.
This tour includes sweet treats and seasonal drinks, so if you have diabetes, don’t consume alcohol, or follow a gluten-free diet, please let us know in advance. Since this is a private tour, we’ll design the route to fit your preferences. However, we’re unable to host vegan guests, as Czech cuisine is heavily dairy- and meat-based, and suitable alternatives are very limited.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your tour starts for a full refund, including the booking fee. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start are non-refundable.
Yes. If you are not satisfied with your tour, tell your guide at the end of the experience and we will refund you in full.
