This private tour takes care of all of it. Your admission is arranged in advance, your guide brings you in through a quiet side entrance most visitors walk right past, and over three hours you’ll see the interiors that matter — St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St. George and Golden Lane — with the stories and legends that bring them to life.
You finish in the castle gardens, looking out over Prague’s red rooftops, with the whole complex seen, the stories heard, and most of your day still ahead of you. The city’s biggest landmark, done properly.

We’ll begin our Prague Castle tour by slipping through a little-known entrance that locals use, allowing us to avoid lines and step straight into the world’s largest castle complex. (Occasional security checks may apply, so please avoid carrying prohibited items.)
Our first stop is the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece and the spiritual heart of the Czech Republic. After admiring its soaring interiors, we’ll continue to the Old Royal Palace, where your guide will share stories of historic events so dramatic and so often repeated in Czech history that they even have their own term. Adding to the intrigue, you’ll also have the rare opportunity to descend into an underground alchemy lab, hidden away for centuries beneath the castle walls.
The Czech lands have seen turbulent times, and justice in the Middle Ages could be harsh. Inside the Castle complex, we’ll visit a medieval torture chamber, where your guide will explain how these instruments of fear were once used to deal with adversaries. It’s a chilling but fascinating glimpse into Prague’s darker past.
Next, we’ll explore the Basilica of St. George, one of the oldest surviving churches in Prague, dating back to the 10th century and once the burial place of Czech kings. From there, we’ll stroll down the enchanting Golden Lane, a colorful row of tiny medieval houses once home to castle guards, goldsmiths, and even Franz Kafka for a short time.
We’ll finish with a walk through the castle gardens, where breathtaking viewpoints open up over Prague’s red rooftops, the Baroque domes of Lesser Town, and the iconic Church of St. Nicholas. It’s the perfect way to take in the city’s beauty from above. From there, it’s downhill the rest of the way – most groups stroll back down through the Lesser Town, but your guide can adapt the ending to your plans.
After exploring the Castle grounds, you’ll no doubt have worked up an appetite. We offer the option to include a traditional Czech lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants nearby. For 35 EUR per person, you’ll enjoy a hearty meal with one drink included, featuring a set menu of classic dishes such as goulash or svíčková, perfect for savoring the flavors of Czech cuisine.

No, tram tickets are included, and your guide will bring you up the hill by tram rather than on foot. If your hotel is already up near the castle, you’ll simply walk over together instead — as long as that suits everyone in your group. The way back down is a gentle stroll, usually through the Lesser Town, and your guide can adjust the ending to your pace and plans.
Absolutely! We can adapt the pace and route to fit your group. Whether you’re traveling with young kids, seniors, or slow walkers, we’ll plan a gentler path with plenty of breaks and scenic stops.
That said, due to steep hills, cobblestones, and staircases around the Castle, this tour is not wheelchair accessible. If someone in your group needs full step-free access, we recommend our Prague by Car Tour — a fully accessible alternative with views and no hills.
No, meals aren’t included by default, but we offer an optional traditional Czech lunch either before or after your tour, depending on your chosen start time. It’s a great way to round out the experience, and we’ll take care of the reservation. The price is 35 EUR per person, and you can simply add it when booking. Prefer something more casual? Your guide can also recommend great local spots nearby.
The boat cruise lasts about 45 minutes, but with the boarding and a drink on board, you can count on 1 hour. There are no set departure times; the boats go every 15-20 minutes. It’s a lovely way to end the tour — especially after a day on your feet. You’ll enjoy scenic views of the city’s skyline from the water, with a relaxed atmosphere and a chance to see Prague from a different angle.
